Chamber Scholarship

Scholarship Awards Nominees

I had the privilege of reviewing the scholarship applications this year. Wow!!! What an impressive group of young folks we have in our community. It is difficult to select just three when we have so many deserving of this honor. I wish you all the best in your promising futures, as you strive in reaching your goals, and move on to attending colleges of your choice.

KELLY MARIE MONTGOMERY, Kelly is a young lady on a mission. She had a health obstacle in her path, but Kelly is an example of, if you are given lemons, you make lemonade. With this lemonade it helped Kelly decide which career path she wanted to travel. She realized that she wanted to pursue a career as a Pediatric Nurse. We all know there is a need in the medical field for dedicated and compassionate Nurses.

Kelly carries a heavy academic schedule, but she finds time to contribute to her community. In community services she sponsored a child through Compassion International, she was a Pennies for Patients Coordinator - she assisted in a fund raiser for the Lymphoma Society and many other activities and organizations in which Kelly has been an active volunteer.

Kelly has been presented with several awards: Scholar Award from the American Association of University Women, Presidential Volunteer Award, Most Inspirational, and Nominated to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine. This is just a few of Kelly's accomplishments.

The Port Hadlock Tri-Area Chamber is honored to present to you, Kelly, a $500 scholarship, as a contribution in helping you achieve your educational goal, in seeking your career as a Pediatric Nurse. Kelly, good luck to you in your future achievements.

BETHANY KARIN FRIEDRICH, Bethany is a hardworking, determined, intelligent and flexible young lady that has a desire to change the world thru her love for art, her talent to be creative, and her passion in helping the youth.

Bethany also has a desire to change the decor of her bedroom, encourage the youth by redecorating the bedrooms of children in need, so when times get rough they have a place they can go that makes them feel safe and happy. What a gift. This would be a fun life to live, never knowing what your decor will be for the day, when you leave in the morning your home was a peaceful blue and when you return in the evening, your home was changed to be a Hawaiian luau.

Bethany has an extensive community service background, beginning in her freshman year. She is a sixth grade Cispus Counselor, assisted and coached basketball, softball and t-ball teams, and donated handmade hats and scarves to hospice patients.

Bethany is a leader. She wears many hats in her leadership role: Associated Student Body, Class President, Vice President, Executive Historian and Executive Vice President. International Club: Treasurer and Secretary. Bethany serves as Captain of her Basketball and Soccer teams, and too many additional committees to mention. Bethany obviously has a burst of energy. I find this energy contagious, we all wish we had just a little of this wonderful energy.

Bethany works diligently to achieve a 3.886 grade point average. This is terrific to see our youth being so focused and giving so much to their community.

The Port Hadlock Tri-Area Chamber is honored to present to you, Bethany, a $500 scholarship, as a contribution in helping you expand your horizons, in achieving your career goal to become an Interior Designer. Bethany, good luck to you in your future achievements.
